Saint Jean de Luz: is a lovely little fishing port on the Basque coast just South of Biarritz.

I’ll take you on a short walk through the center of town and point out some of the highlights. This is a good place to shop for regional specialties as well. First we’ll drive through Ciboure to Socoa, then we’ll follow the Corniche Basque, along the rugged Atlantic coast. Next, before reaching the Spanish border we’ll head up into the foothills of the Pyrenees. We’ll visit, for instance – the lovely French Basque mountain town of Ainhoa.

We’ll drive from Saint Jean-de-Luz to Ainhoa and Espellette; then Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port, Bayonne and Biarritz.

We’ll drive down the coast along the Basque Corniche, before heading up into the foothills of the Pyrenees. This Atlantic coast on the Gulf of Gascogne is spectacular, however the mountain towns in the Basque Country are colorful and charming. Wander through lovely villages, and walk over stone bridges, where the rivers are so clear you can see fish swimming! Try the Basque regional dishes for lunch. For example, the Sheep’s milk cheese is famous! Other Basque specialties include cured ham, and a hearty cake filled with cherry or cream.
